Christine Blasey Ford, Brett Kavanaugh

It's been almost a year since I made this blog, which has no posts (unless I manage to finish this one.)
The Kavanaugh confirmation has unnerved me.  One of my best friends (who is a Distinguished Scholar) wrote me that she doesn't think the Kavanaugh-Ford difference of opinion should be called sexual assault.  Because it happened to everybody she knows.  (She's 63 and studied at Stanford and UCLA, not in the same order as I did.)

It matters.  People are infinitely variable in their vulnerability.   Christine Blasey Ford was more sensitive at 15 than I was at 11.  It's entirely possible that her life before Brett Kavanaugh was so protected that nobody had ever hit her or yelled at her.
